PHYSICAL SCIENCES

The Physical Sciences Department applies fundamental expertise in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials design and characterization, and applied mechanics to enhance product performance in diverse environments. Through interaction with the Systems and Components departments, key product requirements are defined. How these requirements are influenced by physical, chemical, and mechanical modifications forms the basis for our research.

The Physical Sciences department at UTRC is well known for the development of high temperature materials, catalysis for fuel processing and air purification, advancement of PEM durability, SOFC development, and micromechanics approaches to structural integrity and reliability.
