PHYSICAL SCIENCES
The Physical Sciences Department develops innovative technology solutions, novel product concepts, and technical support in the areas of materials and chemical sciences to provide growth and competitive advantage to UTC's businesses. The department's core strength and expertise in materials science, chemistry, mechanics, and engineering are the technical enablers for success.
Current areas of focus include high temperature materials, ceramics, composite materials, fuel cells, green catalytic technologies, advanced fuels, atomistic and continuum modeling, material mechanics including manufacturing processes and structural reliability, and materials characterization and root cause analysis.
