McQuade receives honorary degree from University of Connecticut

STORRS, Connecticut - Dr. J. Michael McQuade, Senior Vice President, Science & Technology, United Technologies Corporation (UTC), received an honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Connecticut at the school's 2017 School of Engineering commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 6.

McQuade was one of five special guests recognized as leaders in their respective fields who were honored by UConn for "their extraordinary and lasting distinction that represents the highest intellectual and moral values."

In conferring the honor, the University noted that his "outstanding work, service to our nation, and dedication to education serve as a sterling example our students can strive to follow."

"UConn's School of Engineering carries an international reputation of excellence for the quality of its curriculum and the nature of the research it conducts," said McQuade, who holds Ph.D., M aster of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in physics from Carnegie Mellon University.

"I am especially pleased with the many important and productive long-term partnerships that exist between UConn and UTC," McQuade said. "I am deeply honored to receive this degree and look forward to watching the tide of discovery here rise to meet the world's most critical challenges as we face the future together."
