AACHEN, Germany – United Technologies Research Center (UTRC), the research and innovation engine of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), recently announced its continuing support of RWTH Aachen University undergraduate and master's degree engineering students with $25,000 in scholarship funds for the 2016-2017 academic year. This gift brings the total scholarship, fellowship and research funding provided by UTRC to RWTH Aachen since 2012 to $350,000.
As a result of UTRC's 2016 gift, together with those provided by other RWTH Aachen funding partners, 563 students received individual academic scholarships at the university's annual scholarship dinner, held Friday, Nov. 18, in the Coronation Hall of Aachen City Hall.
Dr. Isaac Cohen, executive director, Research Operations, UTRC, presented certificates to 12 students whose scholarships were funded solely by UTRC. This brings the total number of students benefiting from UTRC's gifts to 103, including 64 recipients of the master's degree fellowship established by UTRC in 2012.
"The engineering students who benefit from these scholarship and fellowship funds are leading the next-generation of academic and research excellence," Cohen said. "As one of Europe's top scientific and research institutions, Aachen's mission to develop breakthrough concepts aligns closely with UTRC's legacy of advancing technology and innovation."
