HARTFORD, Connecticut – UTRC has been selected as part of a national coalition to spur advancements in smart sensors and digital process controls that can radically improve the efficiency of U.S. advanced manufacturing.
Called the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute, it will be led by the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition (SMLC), a consortium comprising 200 partners from more than 30 states, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy.
The Research Center will participate on the Institute's advisory committee, and is part of its Northeast Regional Manufacturing Hub, led by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
"United Technologies Research Center is excited to be part of the SMLC Institute. As the innovation engine of UTC, we understand the value of energy efficiency as a key differentiator for U.S. manufacturing competitiveness," said John Milton-Benoit, director, Manufacturing & Service Technologies Program, UTRC. "This Institute will help to develop and demonstrate advanced technologies required to achieve this goal."
