CORK, Ireland – Francisco Gonzalez-Espin, Discipline Leader, Power Electronics, UTRC Ireland, was recently elevated to the grade of senior member within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
This exceptional honor is accorded to a very small fraction of the organization’s more than 430,000 members worldwide, and is a reflection of Gonzalez-Espin's professional expertise and significant achievements during his career, indicated Stevo Mijanovic, General Manager, UTRC Ireland.
"Since 1963, only nine percent of the IEEE's global membership has been recognized with a senior member grade," said Mijanovic, "so this represents a major personal and professional accomplishment for Fran. His elevation is highly deserved and we’re very proud to have someone of his stature and experience leading our power electronics initiatives within Ireland and Europe."
The IEEE is a professional association formed in 1963 from the amalgamation of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Radio Engineers.
Today, it is the world's largest association of technical professionals with more than 430,000 members in chapters around the world.
Its objectives are the educational and technical advancement of electrical and electronic engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering and allied disciplines.
