UTRC teams with Pacific Northwest National Lab on new ARPA-E project

EAST HARTFORD, Connecticut – UTRC has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) to partner on one of 12 projects announced Friday, Dec. 11, as part of the DOE's new Network Optimized Distributed Energy Systems (NODES) Program.

The $2.7 million research project, titled, "Multi-scale Incentive-based Control of Distributed Assets," is designed to contribute to the NODES program overall goal of making the country's power grid more sustainable, resilient and efficient through a virtual energy storage system that relies on innovative control systems to shape the electric load.

The project will be led by the DOE's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Richland, Washington. UTRC is one of five companies on the PNNL team.
